As a process-based artist, the preparation of my canvases and the pouring of liquid paints is an integral part of my art making. My paintings are never fully compositionally planned in advance. I begin with a colour and through the combination of acrylic paints, fluid matte medium, acrylic flow release and water, I create pours of translucent and opaque stains on raw canvas. Through this exploration of colours and the material qualities of paint, I witness the way that paint can be simultaneously solid and fluid, through both its nature to sit on canvas as a skin and its physical saturation of the canvas. My process-oriented practice seeks to display the images of accident and incident that occur through fluid interaction on the canvas’ surface as well as the paint’s permeation of the canvas.
