Reversal

These works have been created by pouring liquid acrylic paint in layers on what is now the backs of these paintings. The canvas is then taken off the stretcher and re-stretched backwards, exposing what I believe to be these work’s true images. The reversal displays the images that occur through the paint’s permeation of the canvas; viewers are exposed to the images that take form out of sight until the canvas is reversed. This exploration of colours and the materiality of paint allow viewers to see paint’s ability to be simultaneously fluid and solid through its saturation of the canvas.
